CROOKED RULES
By joining Crooked RP, you agree to adhere to the server’s rules and guidelines. Failure to follow the server rules may result in warnings, temporary suspensions, or permanent bans. Always keep in mind that the goal is to create an enjoyable and immersive experience for everyone. For any questions or concerns, please contact our staff via the appropriate channels.
1. General Roleplay Expectations
-
Stay In-Character (IC): At all times, you must remain in character during gameplay. If you are not in-character, use OOC chat to communicate out of character.
 -
Immersive Roleplay: All actions, interactions, and dialogue should contribute to creating a realistic and immersive environment. Actions that break immersion (e.g., unrealistic behavior, random violence) are prohibited.
 -
Character Development: Develop your character over time with a backstory, personality traits, and a story arc. Avoid "powergaming" by creating an overly powerful or unrealistic character.
 -
No Metagaming: Do not use out-of-character knowledge to influence in-character decisions. Your character only knows what they have experienced or learned in the game world.

2. Violence & Combat
-
VDM (Vehicle Deathmatch): Using a vehicle as a weapon to intentionally harm or kill another player is strictly forbidden. Vehicles should only be used for roleplay-related purposes.
 -
RDM (Random Deathmatch): You cannot kill other players without a valid in-character reason. All deaths must have a clear motive, and must be explained within the context of the roleplay.
 -
Escalation of Force: Violence should be used only when necessary and must be in line with the situation’s escalation. Do not engage in excessive violence, and always attempt to resolve conflicts through roleplay before resorting to physical confrontation.
 -
Weapon Use: Handle weapons responsibly in-game. If your character uses a weapon, it must be for a legitimate purpose and must follow the appropriate roleplay context.
 -
No Excessive Killing or Griefing: Killing someone for no reason, or repeatedly targeting players without in-character justification, is considered griefing and is not allowed.

3. Roleplay Etiquette & Behavior
-
Respect Other Players: Treat others with respect in both roleplay and OOC. Harassment, toxicity, or abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
 -
No Powergaming: Do not force actions on other players that they cannot reasonably react to. For example, you cannot force an emote or outcome that removes player agency.
 -
No Godmodding: Your character is not invincible. Accept the consequences of your character’s actions and understand that failure is part of the roleplay experience.
 -
Avoid OOC Drama: Do not bring drama or personal issues into the game. Keep OOC conflicts out of character and resolve them through appropriate channels.
 -
No ERP (Erotic Roleplay): Any form of sexual roleplay or inappropriate content is strictly prohibited. Keep roleplay respectful and within the boundaries of PG-13 content.

4. Communication
-
Use /me and /do Properly: These commands are vital for roleplay interaction. Use /me to describe your character's actions and /do to set the scene or describe environmental details. Example:
-
/me pulls out a gun from their jacket.
 -
/do The street is empty and the lights are flickering.

 -
 -
Avoid OOC Chat in IC Situations: Do not use out-of-character chat during in-character interactions unless absolutely necessary (e.g., asking for clarification or reporting an issue). Always use /ooc for out-of-character discussions.
 -
Respect Voice and Text RP: Use voice chat for in-character communication, and text chat for any additional in-character details or to interact with NPCs.
 -
No Spamming: Avoid spamming voice or text chat with irrelevant messages, excessive sounds, or trolling.

5. Roleplay Limits & Boundaries
-
Respect Boundaries: Every player has different comfort levels, especially when it comes to dark or sensitive themes. If someone indicates they are uncomfortable with certain types of roleplay, respect their boundaries.
 -
No Harassment: Harassing other players in any form (in-game, on Discord, etc.) is a violation of the rules. This includes sexual harassment, racist comments, or homophobic behavior.
 -
No Bullying or Targeting: Do not target specific players for harassment or continuous in-game conflict without proper roleplay reasoning. Everyone should feel welcome and respected.
 -
Power Dynamics: Avoid creating toxic or unfair power dynamics in roleplay scenarios. Let other players have a chance to shine in the story and respect their time and space in-game.

6. Criminal & Law Enforcement Roleplay
-
Law Enforcement Roleplay: If you are playing a law enforcement character (e.g., police officer), you are expected to roleplay by the law. Follow procedures for arrests, search warrants, and investigations.
 -
Criminal Roleplay: If you play a criminal, ensure your actions have realistic motivations. Avoid engaging in criminal activities that don’t make sense for your character's backstory or the current roleplay situation.
 -
No False Reports: Do not falsely report crimes or police activities just to disrupt the game. Law enforcement characters should act based on genuine roleplay situations, not to harass or provoke others.

7. Economy & Resource Management
-
Realistic Economy Use: Keep the economy grounded in reality. Avoid using exploits to gain an unfair advantage in the game. Trade, earn money, and manage resources within the context of roleplay.
 -
Business and Property Ownership: If you own a business or property, ensure your business activities make sense for your character’s backstory and roleplay context. Do not use your business to break server rules or disrupt roleplay.
 -
No Hoarding or Manipulation: Do not hoard resources, items, or money to manipulate the in-game economy or become overwhelmingly rich in a way that breaks immersion.

8. Server Exploits & Bugs
-
No Exploiting Bugs: Do not use any server bugs or glitches to gain an advantage or disrupt other players’ roleplay. If you discover any bugs, report them to the admins immediately.
 -
Abuse of Mechanics: Do not abuse or manipulate game mechanics to your benefit in a way that feels unnatural or unrealistic.
 -
Cheating or Modding: Any form of cheating, using mods to alter the game experience, or exploiting the server for personal gain is strictly prohibited and will result in a permanent ban.

9. No Impersonation
-
Impersonating Other Players or Staff: Do not impersonate other players, staff members, or public figures within the server. This includes using similar usernames, voice acting, or character names.
 -
Do Not Fake Roles: If you are not actually a staff member, do not act like one in-game or in any other capacity. Misleading others is considered a serious violation.

10. Reporting and Disciplinary Actions
-
Reporting Rule Violations: If you witness a rule violation, report it to staff members immediately using the designated reporting channels. Provide clear and honest evidence of the issue (screenshots, video, etc.).
 -
Disciplinary Actions: Rule breakers may face a variety of disciplinary actions, including warnings, temporary suspensions, or permanent bans, depending on the severity of the violation.
 -
Appealing Bans or Suspensions: If you believe your ban or suspension was unjust, you can submit an appeal to the server staff. Be honest in your appeal and provide any relevant details.

11. Staff & Admin Decisions
-
Follow Staff Instructions: Always listen to and follow the directions of server staff and admins. They are here to ensure that the server remains fun, fair, and immersive for everyone.
 -
No Arguing with Staff: If you have a problem with a staff member’s decision, respectfully submit a complaint or appeal. Do not argue or cause disruption in the game.

12. Respecting RP Events
-
Respect Official RP Events: During scheduled server events (e.g., races, heists, public gatherings), players must adhere strictly to the event's roleplay narrative. Disrupting events or exploiting the situation for personal gain will result in penalties.
 -
Follow Event Guidelines: Any special rules or guidelines specific to an event must be followed. For example, no cheating, no metagaming, and maintaining immersion throughout the event.

13. Realistic Communication
-
No Out-of-Character (OOC) Communication in Roleplay: Do not engage in OOC chat or voice during an in-character interaction unless absolutely necessary (e.g., a game mechanic issue or technical difficulty). Use /ooc for out-of-character communication.
 -
Texting While Driving: If you are in-character and driving, you should not be texting or multitasking unless it is part of the roleplay. Texting and driving can result in accidents and should be roleplayed realistically.

14. Realistic Character Interactions
-
No Instant Relationships: Relationships in RP should develop naturally over time. Do not rush into friendships, romantic relationships, or alliances without building the character connections first.
 -
No “Metagaming Friendships”: Avoid using OOC knowledge to form relationships, such as knowing someone’s character is a criminal just because you’ve seen their Discord profile. Relationships must evolve within the RP world.

15. No Inappropriate Content
-
Respect the PG-13 Environment: Crooked RP is a serious RP server that expects all content to remain within a PG-13 rating. Explicit, graphic, or inappropriate content in any form will result in immediate action.
 -
Inappropriate Humor & Language: Avoid using excessive offensive language or inappropriate jokes. Keep interactions respectful and in line with the server’s family-friendly environment.

16. No Use of Outside Information
-
Do Not Use External Resources for RP Advantage: You are prohibited from using external websites, social media, or any out-of-game source of information to influence your in-game actions. For example, do not look up another player’s backstory, inventory, or history from other sources.
 -
Do Not Discuss OOC Information In-Game: If something is discussed outside of the game (e.g., via Discord), don’t use that knowledge in-game unless it has been roleplayed or your character is aware of it.

17. No Unnecessary Violence or Conflict
-
Avoid Random Fights: Do not instigate fights or arguments unless it makes sense in the roleplay. Random violence and conflict between players should be avoided unless there's a legitimate, in-character reason.
 -
De-Escalation is Key: Always attempt to resolve conflicts through dialogue and roleplay. Use in-character solutions to diffuse tense situations instead of jumping straight to violence.

18. No Unofficial RP or “Off-Road” RP
-
No Off-Road RP (Breaking Server Rules for RP): Don’t create and participate in roleplay scenarios that involve breaking server rules or using bugs/glitches to enhance your character’s experience (such as infinite money, unfair PvP advantages, etc.). Keep RP events in line with the server's rules and mechanics.
 -
Adhere to RP Limits: Always follow the server’s established mechanics. Do not invent your own rules or systems outside of the core game mechanics that other players might not have access to or understand.

19. No Disruptive AFK Behavior
-
No AFK Roleplaying: Leaving your character AFK for extended periods in areas where it disrupts the flow of roleplay or inconveniences other players is prohibited. If you need to step away from the game, do so in a safe and appropriate manner (e.g., hiding in a safe location).
 -
No AFK Farming: Do not engage in any AFK farming activities, such as using macros, scripts, or automated tools to earn in-game currency or resources without actually participating in roleplay

20. No Exploiting Character Traits or Roleplay Abilities
-
Do Not Exploit Traits or Abilities: Certain character traits or abilities (e.g., charisma, persuasion, combat skills) should not be exploited to control others, manipulate the story, or bypass roleplay elements. Keep roleplay interactions balanced and fair.
 -
Do Not Overuse Abilities: If your character has special abilities or professions (e.g., doctor, mechanic, criminal mastermind), avoid overusing these in every scenario or forcing others into interactions. Use them when appropriate and according to the situation.
